I know I'm not, but sometimes, it really does feel like I'm the only one who reads Kaze Hikaru.

And it's a shame cuz' I think it's one of the best Shoujo manga ever. It doesn't have magic, outrageous plotlines, or incredibly pretty bishies like typical Shoujo lore, but I love it for that. I understand that its historic aspects can seem boring or bogging down to some but its because of it that the story is one of the most real I've ever read.

Part of me is seriously terrified that Viz may stop translating it if not enough people buy it. I don't want that because otherwise there will be no way for me to read it unless I become fluent in Japanese ;_;

Sketched this up because I find these two adorable and need more fanart.... and because i need to learn how to use CS5 ^^;

I love this series too!!! I totally agree that there isn't nearly enough fan art for this amazing series. I've been trying to get my friends to read it, but they're not interested since its a 'historical' manga, even though it has plenty of romance in it as well!

Not to mention Sei is just too cute the way you drew her. :D

Yes, the guy is Sakamoto Ryoma, and if I remember correctly, he'll show up in volume 20 :) (which is half the reason why I want Viz to publish the series faster :lol:)

This manga is still running in Japan, actually, and is up to 29 volumes. 18 of those volumes have been translated and released by Viz and vol. 19 is scheduled for release in August.

Is Kaze Hikaru really that difficult to read in Japanese? Most of the series I love don't get picked up, so a number of my books are in nihongo... without furigana to boot. D: KaHi should have furigana though, no? Shouldn't be that bad, shouldn't be that bad~

It has furigana, but the author is kind of being a history stickler with the details and a ton of older words and dialects is stuffed into the dialogue, and there are absolutely no loan words so it's a bit harder than normal XP

That sounds like fun! O: At least you can "read" it... I'm stuck going wtf how is this read orz;;;; D;

But yeah. Especially since nontranslated manga is cheaper, I'd say it'd be worth it to pick up a few volumes in Japanese. Are you taking language in the fall? It makes for good renshuu yo~
